Our Business is Proof of Presence

When people ask about our business and what we do, it sometimes prompts us to take a step back and think about that.  Here at Guard1, we do so many things for so many customers – making busy staff more efficient, helping corrections officers manage well-being checks and tasks, tracking people and things within a facility.  But common to all those things is proof of presence.  And common to all our customers is the need to prove that staff and individuals were where they needed to be, and when.  Here are a few examples.

We had our start in the guarding business. In commercial security, “guard tour” is a standard requirement; many would say the most important requirement for most security officers.  The PIPE was used by all of the major guarding companies worldwide – in many cases, it still is.  Security managers need proof that their officers did their required patrols.  Guard1’s proof of presence provides that. 

Slip-and-fall is a concern for many businesses, particularly retail.  A large Eastern grocery chain uses Guard1 to confirm that its associates check the premises regularly.  Their staff does over 16 million individual checks annually.  To avoid liability, managers need proof that aisles are clean and icy sidewalks are salted.  Guard1’s proof of presence provides that.

Municipal water and sewer plants have complex processes and valves, gauges, and critical points that must be checked.  A missed check can mean a loss of service to residents.  Plant managers need to be certain that inspections are complete and on time.  Guard1’s proof of presence provides that.

Regional Security Officer may be a title you’ve never heard of.  We have a lot of respect for RSOs, who have one of the toughest jobs in the world.  They are responsible for the security of United States embassies and their staff all over the world.  In dangerous places where American lives are at risk, RSOs need to be certain that their staff performed security patrols.  Guard1’s proof of presence provides that.

Corrections has been one of our main areas of focus since the 1990s. County jails and state prisons require mandated checks at regular time intervals to be compliant with legal standards. We’ve worked with over 1300 facilities, and have expanded outside of The PIPE to include our mobile RFID inmate tracking system and active beacon tracking system to provide proof of presence in multiple ways – depending on what the agency needs.

We’ve also had success partnering with behavioral healthcare companies and helping them document their mandated patient checks. We continue to expand the number of behavioral healthcare organizations that we work with to provide proof of presence.
